Overview

Performance and flexibility allows you to do something new; creating opportunities to innovate, find better ways to control your application, increase speeds, improve processes and reduce the footprint of your system. Unidrive SP, Control Techniques' high-performance intelligent drive family allows you to achieve this. The ultimate AC drive.

Control Techniques software tools make it easier to access the drive's full feature set. Our software allows you to optimise the drive tuning, back-up the configuration, configure the on-board automation and motion controller and setup the drive-to-drive communications links. There are five main software packages:

  • CTSoft - Drive configuration and index motion editor
  • CTScope - Real-time software oscilloscope
  • SyPTLite - Ladder program editor for simple PLC control
  • SyPTPro - Drive automation and motion programming environment
  • CTOPCServer - OPC compliant server for interfacing your own PC software with Control Techniques drives

The software packages connect using Ethernet, CTNet, Serial or USB connections. Ethernet communications allow the drives to be accessed remotely, anywhere in the world.

Panel Mount

Overview

Unidrive SP Panel Mount drives are standard AC input, AC output modules for installation within a control panel. The modules are easy to install and commission and can be applied in a wide range of applications. Unidrive SP can be configured using the keypad to operate in the following modes:

  • Open loop V/Hz AC drive
  • Open loop Vector AC drive
  • Closed loop AC drive
  • AC servo amplifier for rotary and linear motors
  • Regenerative (Active) power supply

Three Control Techniques click-in option module slots allow the drive to be uniquely customised to your application allowing you to select the level of intelligence, connectivity and I/O you need.

Due to the inherent performance and flexibility of Unidrive SP, potential areas for its application are limitless; the drives intelligence and dynamic response allow it to be applied in the most demanding applications while the compact dimensions make it ideal in new and retrofit energy saving installations. Freestanding

Unidrive SP Free Standing offers a fully engineered drive that is supplied within a standard sized cabinet. Free Standing drives can be ordered to include all of the power input equipment needed to allow immediate connection to the motor and to the power supply.

The Unidrive SP Modular drives range offers the same advanced feature set as our panel mount drives but with additional power system flexibility; the drives may be arranged to provide a common DC bus system with or without an active front end (regenerative, 4 quadrant operation). Very high current motors may be controlled using a multi-drive modular arrangement.

 

Applications

The Unidrive SP Modular drives are suitable for applications in both commercial and industrial applications where power scheme flexibility and regenerative energy saving provides an operational advantage. Typical applications include:

  • Energy saving with very high power fans and pumps
  • Metal production and processing
  • Large cranes
  • Automotive testing such as car, engine and gearbox dynamometers
  • Web control and winding
  • Conveying and processing of bulk materials

  • Higher power motors are controlled using Unidrive SP modules connected in parallel. This is an economic and compact solution that simplifies installation and improves serviceability
  • Allows you to use a DC bus system to recycle energy between simultaneously braking and motoring drives such as in a winder/unwinder configuration
  • Minimise harmonics with 12, 18 and 24 pulse operation to allow you to meet and exceed stringent supply regulations
  • Eliminate harmonics using an active front end

Software

Our Software makes it easy to access the drives features. It allows you to quickly setup the drive, optimise the tuning, back-up the configuration, program the onboard automation controller and setup communications links.

The Software tools communicate using Ethernet, Serial or USB connections. Ethernet allows the software tools to easily use the internet infrastructure allowing Control Techniques drives to be accessed remotely from virtually anywhere around the world.

CTSoft
CTSoft is a configuration tool for commissioning, optimising and monitoring Control Techniques drives. It allows you to:

  • Easily configure the drive using wizards
  • Read, save and load drive configuration settings
  • Manage the drive's smartcard data
  • Visualise and modify the configuration with live animated diagrams

CTScope
CTScope is a full featured software oscilloscope for viewing and analysing changing values within the drive. The time base can be set to give high speed capture for tuning or intermittent capture for longer term trends.  The interface is based on a traditional oscilloscope, making it familiar to engineers across the globe.

SyPTLite
SyPTLite is an easy to use ladder logic program editor, suitable for simple drive applications. SyPTLite is ideal for controlling basic logic and sequencing with Commander SK LogicStick PLC.

SyPTPro

SyPTPro is a full featured automation development environment that can be used for creating solutions to single or multiple drive applications. The programming environment fully supports three industry standard programming languages: Function Block, Ladder and Structured Text. Motion is configured using PLCopen function blocks that support a master and slave axis configuration.

SyPTPro is also used to configure CTNet, a high speed drive-to-drive network that links together multiple drives, SCADA, operator panels and I/O to form an intelligent networked system.

CTOPCServer

CTOPCServer is an OPC compliant server that allows PCs to communicate with Control Techniques drives. The server supports communication using Ethernet, Serial RS485 and USB. OPC is a standard interface on SCADA packages and is widely supported within Microsoft products. The server is supplied free of charge and can be obtained by clicking the download tab on this page.
